Wyndham Capital Mortgage, Inc. WINS 2007 work/life AWARDS
Awards Honor Region’s Innovative Companies
Charlotte, NC – Wyndham Capital Mortgage, Inc was honored with a Charlotte Chamber work/life Award, placing 2nd in the 50 to 249 employees category as one of the region’s innovative companies. The award luncheon was held Wednesday, March 21st at the Westin Hotel with the keynote address by Carol Coletta, CEO of CEOs for Cities. The event also included a panel discussion with past winners, the research company which administers the work/life Awards survey and a representative from UNC Charlotte which recently received a grant to transform their culture for staff.
“Business is in a race for talent and companies that effectively attract and retain will be ahead of the curve as the labor pool shrinks in the coming years. To honor companies that push innovative people practices the Charlotte Chamber presented eight companies with this prestigious award,” said Patricia Zoder, chair of the work/life Awards.
The awards identify and honor Charlotte area companies that provide a working culture that attracts current and upcoming generations of young professionals. Because of predicted shortages of talent, especially young talent, companies that offer an attractive working culture and solid career opportunities will play a significant role in securing long-term economic growth in the Charlotte region.
The award process is two-fold. First, companies complete an application describing how their corporate policies, benefits, culture or environment work to attract and retain. Then, a team from IMR Research Group, an independent, Charlotte-based research firm, conducts a confidential survey of each company’s employees to gauge their opinions and perceptions of their company.
Winners are chosen based on the survey results and attributes include those identified as most desirable among professionals when evaluating employment opportunities. Examples include skill development and advancement potential, an environment where employee opinions and ideas are requested and valued and the opportunity for workers to make significant contributions to corporate initiatives. Additionally, progressive benefits, a culture of diversity and inclusion, and policies that truly support work/life balance were all considered. The Charlotte Chamber believes the research results will allow companies to enhance their approach in recruiting and retaining upcoming generations of workers.
“At Wyndham Capital Mortgage, we pride ourselves in providing a positive work environment as much as providing high-quality, valuable service to our clients. We take an inside-out approach to our business, with the belief that ensuring a happy, healthy, productive workforce will result in a higher quality product for our customers. It is no coincidence that our employee satisfaction ratings have risen simultaneously with our customer satisfaction ratings in both our own internal surveys and those conducted through third-party vendors. We are greatful to the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce for recognizing these efforts as well as to our many clients who continue to make it all worthwhile.”
